Holiday dinner

We hosted a small friendsgiving potluck at our new home. I tested out a couple new recipes and they actually turned out tasty, so I thought I would share.

I am actually making this turkey for Christmas dinner now as well. Friendsgiving was my test run and it turned out great, so why not do it again, and this time I will take more photos!

I made a turkey with champagne(!!!), and I made two types of cornbread... okay maybe three types, for my lactose intolerance peeps: jalapeño, jalapeño with cheese, and buttermilk. My favorite Thanksgiving food is definitely cornbread. I love the cornbread from Bandera, so I ended up finding this recipe on Pinterest

Jalapeno Cornbread

Buttermilk Cornbread

Champagne Turkey

This was super easy and didn't require marinating the turkey before hand. I personally think the most important thing is to baste the turkey often (at least every 30 min)

Changes I made to the recipe:
I used a 24lbs turkey
I added fresh cloves of garlic
I used almond champagne because it is sweet.

Half the batch I did not add cheese.
The batch without cheese turned out more moist and the one with cheese turned out crispier

I served this with honey-butter.

Let butter soften in room-temperature. Mix a couple spoons of honey and serve with the cornbread.
